Idol Thoughts (Top 7)...

We have officially entered into the, "Can we just hurry up and get to the finale already?" phase of American Idol. Although it was nice to hear David Cook put himself back on the map with his amazing arrangement of Mariah's "Be My Baby", other than that, it was another mediocre night of oversinging and snoozery. I know I've said that David Cook won't win, but in a season where there have only been two uber performances and they both came from the same man, it's becoming easier to believe he just might pull it off. He's been the only Idol I've even come close to rooting for this season and now I'm thinking he might actually have a chance. Nah, forget it, the only way I'm picking him is if Brooke goes home this week, but that will never happen, right?

My personal overall ranking:

1.) David Cook
2.) Brooke White
3.) David Archuletta
4.) Jason Castro
5.) Syesha Mercado
6.) Carly Smithson
7.) Kristy Lee Cook

Going Home:

It will definitely be one of the gals this week, in fact, I'm almost willing to guarantee a bottom three entirely made of the female persuasion. The likely culprits will be Syesha, Carly, and Brooke, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Kristy Lee in there swapped with any of the other three. So which lady walks out the door? I know I've been picking her to win, but the evidence all screams that Brooke is in trouble, the same way Cook and Johns were in trouble last week, their fans thought they were safe. However, seeing as DC survived last week unscathed, I'm going to make my official prediction that Syesha hits the road tonight.

Predicting Final Placement:

If Brooke survives the night,

7th - Syesha
6th - Kristy Lee
5th - Castro
4th - Carly
3rd - DC (just can't shake the feeling)
2nd - Archuletta
1st - Brooke

If Brooke goes home,

7th - Brooke
6th - Kristy Lee
5th - Castro
4th - Syesha
3rd - Carly
2nd - Archuletta
1st - DC

Idol Thoughts (Top 8)...

It's a crazy week at Dice headquarters here in Michigan, so just a few thoughts on last night's Idol offering as we prepare to give back tonight (I wasn't going to, but then David Cook wrote it on his hand, so now I have to).

As far as the show goes it was another mediocre night in what has become the season of mediocre in my opinion. Sure, there has been one great performance (Cook's Billie Jean) and a few good ones but overall, it's just a blah season for me. The only standout of the night for me, for the second week in a row, was Castro, whose "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" was pretty stellar. Everyone else? Hmmm, let's go with "listenable".

My personal overall ranking:

1.) David Cook
2.) Brooke White
3.) David Archuletta
4.) Jason Castro
5.) Syesha Mercado
6.) Carly Smithson
7.) Michael Johns
8.) Kristy Lee Cook

Going Home:

Well, if you follow the alternating gender theory then it's one of the four guys exiting tomorrow. The problem with this theory is that Archuletta isn't going anywhere for a while, and in such a toss up season the best performances probably get a decent vote boost, meaning that Castro is likely safe as well. That leaves Johns and Cook and I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Cook had a very forgettable performance and is in exactly that space where everyone thinks he is safe so nobody votes for him. In other words, if I guy goes home tonight, I'm betting it's David Cook. My final prediction? A bottom three that includes Cook, Syesha, and Carly. With a very surprised Carly going home and DC eeking it out to live another day.

Winning:

Brooke.

Workaholic Intevention (The Reality TV before it existed Edition)...

I've always done my best to help rid the world of the sickness that is workaholism, so occasionally I will post some sort of online cure to getting too much done on the job. Today's youtube linkage involves some amazing Public Access TV stuff form the early 80s. If you thought that our love for watching people try (and fail) to show talent on the airwaves started with Idol and America's Got Talent, simply hit up youtube and search for "Stairway to Stardom". The clips that you will find will keep you entertained for hours.

This is only a taste, for the real treat just do the search on Youtube. You will find dancing, comedy, kids, drama, more bad singing, and plenty more that I haven't had time to watch. Just remember, Stairway to Stardom beat Idol to the punch by about 20 years.

On another note, Strongbad has some Wii safety tips for you.

Idol Thoughts (Top 9)...

Well, the lappy is back in the shop so no break down of each performance as I didn't have it to type notes on last night (Seriously, you expect me to put pen to paper?). But that's not really a big deal because the performances last night were just about mediocre all the way through. No really bad ones, and yet, no really good ones. Sure, the Davids and Brooke sounded good, and Kristy Lee and Ramiele sounded not so good, but nothing to write home about either way. If there was a stand out performance for me, strangely enough I think it would be Castro's. The dreaded guitarist picked up the tempo a bit (two puns in 4 words, it's all about efficiency) and I thought it suited him well (He's still not long for the competition, but he deserves the props). So with nothing more really to say, let's get to the predictions, shall we?

My personal overall ranking:

1.) David Cook
2.) Brooke White
3.) David Archuletta
4.) Syesha Mercado
5.) Carly Smithson
6.) Jason Castro
7.) Michael Johns
8.) Ramiele Malubay
9.) Kristy Lee Cook

Going Home:

Since it's a girl's turn tonight I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that it's either Kristy Lee or Ramiele, if you put a gun to my head (and really why wouldn't you) I'd say Ramiele. If somehow another guy hits the road it will be Castro.

Winning:

I see no reason to change from Brooke yet, she continues to do what she needs to do to stay in the top bunch, and that sweet personality will continue to draw in the extra votes. She's an easy "also vote". You know, where a Carly fan will vote a few times for Smithson and then say, "You know, I like that Brooke girl I'll throw a vote her way as well." Then before you know it she's in the final two with David Archuletta and she dominates the final songs, and "Ladies and Gentlemen, Your American Idol!!"

200th Post! A Link to the Future, Zelda Live Action Movie!!...

It's only appropriate that my 200th post involve something this gargantuanly cool.

Behold, the preview for the movie that will own next April, "The Legend of Zelda"!

Now, I'm sure by now you've checked your calender, but still, if you've had any Zelda experience in any of it's forms, you have to admit, this movie (if done LOTR respectful style) would be pretty amazing.
